Job Summary
Gateway Community and Technical College invites applications for the Nurse Aid 10-month instructor position (starting August 2025). This faculty position provides support to the Nurse Aide Program/KNAT Coordinator. Instructs four nurse aide training classes per semester and directs labs at the various locations. Class times will be primarily in the afternoon and evening. Responsible for facilitating clinical rotations at long-term care facilities. Provides support of the KNAT assessment and evaluations in accordance to state regulations.
**Applicants selected for an interview will be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration on the topic to be determined prior to the interview.
10-month faculty contracts span the academic year, typically from August to May, with no course assignments during June and July. Although the contract covers 10 months, the salary is spread over 12 months, ensuring a consistent monthly salary. Benefits are provided year-round. Renewal of the contract depends on factors such as student enrollment and available funding.
Job Duties:
- Position provides support to the Nurse Aide Program/KNAT Coordinator.
- Responsible for the lecture, lab, and clinical portion of the Medicaid Nurse Aide course.
- Responsible for oversight and maintenance of the laboratory space at the Covington and Edgewood Campuses.
- The position also participates in the KNAT evaluation process as instructed by the KNAT Coordinator.
- This position also participates in student advising, professional development, and service to the department, division, and College.
- Assumes a participating role in supporting and promoting the mission, goals, and objectives of the College by performing the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the leadership of the department, division, and College.
- Evaluates students’ readiness including criminal background check and additional requirements for clinical assignments.
- Follows federal and state regulations and guidelines pertaining to the Medicaid Nurse Aide Program.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records as required.
- Instruct (4) afternoon and/or evening four nurse aide courses per semester and assist with (6-8) six to eight KNAT assessments per semester.
- Assists faculty with skills delivery, evaluation, and assessment in conjunction with laboratory faculty.
- Helps support part-time faculty that teach at the Edgewood Campus in the Nurse Aide Program, shared responsibility with Nurse Aide Program Coordinator
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse and Associate Degree in Nursing
- Successful completion of Methods of Instruction (MOI) course
- Two years of full time or equivalent experience as a registered nurse.
- One year of experience in a long-term care setting.
- Current active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Kentucky.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse and Bachelor Degree in Nursing
- Experience in training Nurse Aides through work experience.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
- Significant teaching experience, particularly at the college level
- Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement
- Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in academic advising and supporting student success
- Previous experience in a community college setting
