Reco was murdered on August 24, 2017 while he sat on his motorcycle. He was a gentle giant with a heart to serve others, which was acquired from his late mother Maxine Gunnels, for that was truly who she was. Reco hosted and coordinated yearly cookouts for friends that were murdered. Now we remember and push for justice for our Reco through this memorial event. We hold on to hope that justice will come for our family and all that loved him.
One of Reco's sayings was, Go Big or Go Home! So, we are going big for change, transformation of the lives of those attending and to save lives through blood donations.
The blood drive this year comes with a unique twist that only God could have created, with huge supporters through sponsorships, partnerships and vendor tables. Our vendors and partners include CPD Advocates Karen Rumsey, Ucanspeakforme, Hope Dudley, AllState Insurance, Gunnels Realty, Take 10, 513 Relief Bus, Seven Acres Senior Living in Clifton, Norcom Mortgage, Finfit Life, The Good Group, Life Center the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce and more.
We are the first family to host a blood drive in memorial to someone who has been murdered. Due to the grace and wisdom of our Gods voice for which this idea was spirited in 2019 right before COVID, we have been hosting our blood drive in service to others and memorial to Reco's servant heart for five years.
Our beloved brother, father and friend will never be forgotten for his large heart to love and serve others.
